Don't make [YOUR NAME HERE]'s mistake!

I’m not the biggest fan of cookie dough. I’d prefer to eat a gooey chewy baked cookie (chocolate chip, of course!) And when it comes to pre-digested press releases, here’s a warning: DIGEST THEM BEFORE YOU SEND THEM.
Got one a couple days ago from a state agency here in Oregon, that obviously got it from another source, because peppered through it, where there’s supposed to be a city or state’s name, it was (CITY, STATE) and (DESCRIBE EVENT) and (TIME) and (LOCATION), etc.
At first I had to laugh, then I thought, “Oww. Poor Press-Release Sender.” As they say in some of the … thinner comedies out there, right after a particuarly painful event: “That’s gotta hurt.”

No, the REAL tragedy is that the parts that they left out in that press release, that is all us editors *WANT*, we don't need the rest of the BS that the template they were using provides. That is not true about all press releases, but about EVENTS in particular.
People who send event releases like to build themselves up, but almost always forget to provide vital information about the event.. perhaps where it's held, but often the bare specifics about where it's held, like address or contact info for people who want to attend. Instead they provide their own contact info and they are never available just before the event when actual participants will call with questions. We aim to publish such vital details you know :P
